The Applied Hope Foundation and Move Ukraine have partnered to create Nest (Novel Efficient Shelter Technology) Shelters for displaced Ukrainians wishing to remain in their country. The shelters are made of Expanded Polystyrene Foam (EPF) and then covered with layers of a concrete like substance to make it very secure, warm, and highly durable for decades to come. These shelters aren't intended to be someone's permanent home, but an interim while they rebuild. They can then be repurposed for a host of different possibilities such as visiting family, storerooms, small businesses, and offices with a life expectancy of up to 50 years.
We also expect that, depending on the modifications needed for each family, the shelters should cost approximately $5,000 for the materials.
